Barovier 3 "Scavo" Female Sculptures

Barovier 3 "Scavo" Female Sculptures

These three black glass female nude sculptures were made by Barovier and de-accessioned from the Jones Museum, still retaining the original labels. The glass technique, called "scavo" in Italian, meaning "excavated", is meant to emulate ancient glass or black basalt and has a subtle matte, "weathered" finish contrasting with a polished black surface. Each figure stands in a different position and the 3 together create an elegant, dramatic grouping. They are all well balanced with a nice low center of gravity and a rare collection.
