Set of 12 hand painted ornithological cabinet plates, hand painted by the decorating firm Rouard, in Paris. These detailed and accurately painted plates depict the birds of South American species, each named on the front of the plate and the botanical species which is named on the reverse. These are made after the original service painted of the "Service Oiseaux de L'Amerique Meridionale” which was painted by Sevres in the 1820's. Each hand painted gold border features a different plant, making each plate a unique specimen.
